The world didn’t need another celebrity-backed drink, but high-end spirits certainly needed a kick in the pants.

Co-founded by Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves McConaughey, Pantalones Tequila was born out of a shared love for smooth, unadulterated agave, a good time, and a refusal to take life—or luxury spirits—too seriously.

The name “Pantalones” translates to pants in Spanish, but in street slang, it means having guts. It takes real guts to make a premium, certified organic spirit without all the snooty, over-complicated jargon. With Pantalones Tequila, we set out to make a bottle that performs at the highest level in the glass while reminding everyone that great drinks are meant to be enjoyed.

Our Origin: Started Over a Margarita, Bottled for the World

Long before Pantalones Tequila became a bottle on the shelf, agave spirits were the backdrop of our personal story.

Back in 2006, Matthew was mixing hand-crafted Margaritas on Sunset Boulevard when Camila walked into the room. A single conversation, a shared cocktail, and a towed car later, a couple—and a lifelong obsession with exceptional spirits—was born.

Over nearly two decades of marriage, family, and hosting friends, we searched for an organic option that delivered a ultra-smooth taste without synthetic additives or artificial nonsense. When we couldn’t find one that balanced ultra-premium craftsmanship with a down-to-earth attitude, we decided to craft Pantalones Tequila ourselves.

  • Upcycled Pallets: We transport Pantalones Tequila using BIOPALL upcycled agave shipping pallets to drastically eliminate waste.

  • Composting Agave Waste: Leftover fibers (bagasse) and liquid (vinasse) are upcycled into rich soil compost for regional farms.

  • Zero Harmful Runoff: Organic farming protects local aquifers and coastal waters from toxic chemical runoff.
